Xenz in East London
Xenz launched his first solo show last week at the Leonard St gallery, it wis titled Cloud Cuckoo Land, which in itself is a great name and where i feel like I am currently residing after a weekend of misadventure in Manchester and Dalston. The collection is a two year project and feels very labrinth-esq.
I hate London 2012 – Olympic lanes
In a series of blog posts I will be ranting about just why the
Olympics in London is going to annoy me and the potential pitfalls
The city I call home London is one of the oldest about, made before people
thought about needing to fit f-off great big buses and HGVs on the roads, the
streets were built for horse and cart and therefore the houses were not spaced
too far apart and them over the road were pretty darn close too.
With the Olympics coming, there is clearly a need to get the
athletes to the venue as quickly as possible with as little stress as possible
to ensure they can perform to their best, but sponsors
and VIPs you should get on the bus, the tube, the train, your bike or walk your over
nourished asses to the venues. I can only imagine what the traffic is going to
be like next year. They are being encouraged to do so but I can not imagine
this will happen
As a resident of East London, as a tax payer paying for this
bloody shit shower and as someone who loves summer in London, this is only
going to annoy me. What is annoying me even more is that there will be a record
£200
fine for cyclists in these lanes… erm are we not trying to make London
more cycle friendly. I say we put on a massive cycle protest, The St. Pauls lot
seem to have got the media attention they wanted for their cause
Dalston Curve Garden + Sunshine
Walking out of the office today in the pissing rain, in the dark, in a busy London Street nearly getting knocked on my ‘arris by a crazed moped rider, my mind was transported in an instance to a happier time. The Summer and mooching to Dalston Curve Garden for a spot of lunch with a friend.
Reason for the post? I am missing summer already

Or T.E.E.D…. Yeah I know, it is a little tedious the whole acronym thing, but it will pass and then there will be something else to moan about.
Like the poppy campness of this band and the remix of Lady Gaga he has done has actually made me like something about Gaga rather than wonder if it really does have both a willy and a cookie.
They were on Jo Whiley’s new show and played this track and I thought it sounded good there and that in a club with a better sound system than my home television could be dead good.
Anyhoot… T.E.E.D are playing at XOYO on Thursday….. might just take myself on down there

Sickboy – Heaven & Earth
Launch last night at the Truman Brewery… this reviewer is not going to cover himself in glory to be honest. I was in there for 7 minutes and there were some hot men in there to ogle but my friend was dying for a pee and we had to leave
Anyways quick review… Looked alright, was not blown away in all honesty, caravan serving drinks but unfortunately I do not go in for all this cider malarky, so was not interested. Sickboy had created a a confessional booth complete with a pastor to confess to. Now your writer has far far too much to confess so decided to walk away rather than create a bottle-neck up in that place
At first it was funny…. The only way is Dalston
We laughed about it before, thinking maybe it was a joke, hoping. Now there is a trailer which I still frankly think is a joke, I wonder who is behind this funny and elaborate ruse as there is absolutely no chance of this programme being successful. For a start who will watch it past the initial rubber-necking first episode? Also, what is with the faux American accents?
East London has long been seen as a bit of joke to outsiders who see it as Nathan Barley and generally full of shit, news flash, people who live there make the same jokes. There are some nice bits as well, any area is going to have the stereotypes which we all love to laugh at, sometimes we even dress up as them for fancy dress parties. But let’s get this clear it is nothing new. Northern monkeys have ideas about soft southern fairies, the English think certain things about the Welsh, ask anyone who lives north of the Thames and they have certain thoughts about people who live South, West London has been ridiculed for Sloanes for years and Camden has had it’s fair share of jokes in recent years. I’ll not even get started on the Fat-Face / Diesel jean wearing Claphamites who flock to the green surroundings of South London as it is the closest thing they can find to home after they leave uni and move to the smoke for the first time. So I guess I am saying embrace… it is good joke fodder!
Roadhouse
I spotted this on a cycle last month down by the canal in East London. I know that London is crowded but really….
This was actually not permanent and has now disappeared, it was made entirely of wood, what I think looks amazing are the the colours and textures of the wood set against the dark road either side. This pop-up house is built under two sides of a busy dual carriageway and the top just peaks up high enough to be seen from the road. Amazing place for a party… gutted I missed that boat
Hope on the boards
Living in a big city you can find art in all manner of places, some pieces are amazing, some confusing, some basic just tagging and some generic as…
I spotted this off Kingsland Rd on a block of flats, about 80% are empty and boarded up whilst the rest look pretty depressing. One flat had this painted on it, it is a young girl sewing whilst birds are flocking to her…
