E-Pizza from Dubai

StandardFact loves a bit of creativity, is enamored by imagination, all about the convenience and partial to a pizza or two. Like many creatures of habit the order is always the same. Triple pepperoni in case you were wondering.

Well this idea takes all of the above, and then makes it into one technological yet uber simple solution to the age old problem of having to speak to the guy on the other end of the take out line who invariably is on a shite phone line, speaks only rudimentary English and takes an age to get your simple order wrong.

Dubai based pizza company Red Tomato Pizza came up with the ingenious idea of creating a fridge magnet that links to your WiFi, simply press the button on the magnet and it sends through your usual order to the restaurant. A simple text to confirm message is sent and hey presto! Pizza to your door and minimal effort used.

This idea is amazing because of it’s simplicity, the technology is there and it has been harnessed in a project that cost only $9k. The world coverage, SM buzz and kudos has paid this back many times over. On the back of this innovative solution numerous offers for  franchises around the globe.

Just shows that a good idea does not need to break the bank

BLU is the artist – Berlin town

The walls of Berlin town have more paint than any other I have visited and one artist has helped to dominate the skyline there. There was an agreement between the local council and the residents that every wall possible spare space or wall had to have a stencil, a pattern, a tag, a scribble or doodle…. well not quite but would have been nice

Keeping an eye on Watergate since 2007

Blu is an Italian guy who’s huge pieces can be seen from miles away and across the world from his home town in Bologna, the Camden to Isreal, to Valencia, Barca and even Poland.

Most of his pieces look like some kind of mutant super heroes, the style is pretty hard to copy so you will always recognise them.

I also double like his website, his scrap book of artworks from across the globe, the drawings scribbles and doodles

Things I’ve seen….

The last few weeks the number of new pieces found has gone right now, SF has been pretty inactive due to tumble on two wheels, it will continue in this vein for a while but there will be bits and bobs for your eyeball delectation…

Shok 1 is London based and a bit underground, more known for spraying off the beaten track in places others dare not go. His style is pretty individual and like no other… Like. for a guy who has been spraying since 1984 he has certainly done his time. This is his old site  but the new one is en route. See it around Brick Lane, Hanbury St to be exact.

Cartrain homage to Gilbert & George and a little Damien Hirst baiting

Cartrain – An artist SF really likes, few reasons for the respect, firstly the style is cool, love the collage based stuff, taking everyday items, cultural reference points and making them into playful pieces. The pieces are 3D as well using other items to stand of the canvas, wall or paper.

The other reason I like him is his amusing feud with Damien Hirst, Hirst is not known for his sense of humour. He comes across as a bit of a dour-nut, someone who takes himself supremely seriously and who has pretty much performed an anal gynecology with his head…. The feud started when Cartrain used imagery of Hirst’s over-priced skull a few years back for an exhibition he had created, it happened to share the same name, For The Love of God.

Cartrain was only 17 and maybe trying to steal some notoriety by doing so really got on Hirst’s wick. He retaliated and sued…. a 17 year old. He won ownership of the art work and since then there has been some bad blood.

Cartrain pulled a funny by pinching some pencils from a Hirst exhibition then creating a wanted style piece with a note to Hirst which read…

‘FOR THE SAFE RETURN OF DAMIEN HIRST’S PENCILS I WOULD LIKE MY ARTWORKS BACKS THAT DACS AND HIRST BACK IN NOVEMBER. IT’S NOT A LARGE DEMAND…. HIRST HAS UNTIL THE END OF THIS MONTH TO RESOLVE THIS OR ON THE 31 JULY THE PENCILS WILL BE SHARPENED. HE HAS BEEN WARNED’

SF feels having a little sense of humour about this could have ended in Hirst not looking like a bully and even an amusing colab. A chance for Hirst to help a young pretender.

Things I’ve seen….

Couple of quick additions from around the Hackney Road area.

Found round the corner from a Sweet Toof piece, by regular collaborator Paul Insect. Nice cool and simple piece of a super hero-esq mouse character. Vivid colours, sharp lines and a creepy cyclops style eye.

This is a social music video

Music videos are still important to a record succeeding, it is a difficult one to get stand out in, there is no point throwing money at the situation anymore. Big budgets do not work, just ask the big boys who failed to make an impression at Cannes Lion this year.

Now you have to think social and make sure you are putting the consumer right at the centre of your content and comms, MNDR a NYC based band did exactly that, creating a music video that puts you in the middle of it, communicating directly and taking information from your Facebook page to make it relevant through an app. Working at fourclops in the shape of Eli Stonberg and Jeff Greco and recording the gig at Webster’s Hall in March.

Brands have been doing it for a while and it can work, getting a music video that takes the listener on a journey and make it personal might not sell a download on iTunes, probably will not get you to go to a gig they are playing but it will make them stand out and probably encourage you to keep an eye out for the next creative way they try and communicate with you. You may share on Facebook, Twitter (probably not on Google+ because who the hell uses that) or even tell your mates down at the pub on a weekend, they might buy it or share it. Either way the message is spreading… Good ideas and creativity spreads Fact.

nOlympics Thank you very much

I have said before that not everyone in London and especially the Eastend is over the moon about this thing called the Olympics. Some are dead against it. I was one who was nonplussed but after some campaigning by my good friend I started to feel the excitement. I am even going to the games… I am a guest of a rather large brand…. but I fear the tickets are for women’s beach volleyball… nothing could be more inappropriate for my goodself.

Another reason for liking the idea of the Olympics is the rise of streetart based on the biggest event to hit these shores in anyone’s living memory. Here is another cute and curt piece.

Christina St – Arts ‘n’ Sods

East London is awash, that is no breaking news but I was wondering which road is the best, in NYC you have 5Points, Berlin has many areas but Kreuzberg is pretty shit hot, East London has numerous places such as Redchurch Street but for me it has to be Christina St. The whole area is wall to wall paint, some a little out there, some looks like it might have been commissioned but some is just plane ridic.
