So This recent trip to Berlin was a stag version, therefore it was less debauched than my usual visits…. imagine that!
So although I never made it to Berghain and therefore no Panorama Bar or Lab, but did make it to Club Der Visionaere, which is one of my faves in Kruezberg. Good music, on a canal, out of the way, wooden and rickety, mixed crowd and attractive men.
The set up is cool, the bar is tiny but fine for the size of the club, the music policy is techy (standard) and the security staff are amongst the nicest about. In the summer it is amazing and a right sun trap and a part of a network of cool warehouse based venues including the river beach / swimming pool. Ich liebe Kruezberg
In other news…. your author was driven to a 4 story brothel by the side of a road which I refused to enter, as did the stag and then ended up spending 4 hours in a strip club but did not indulge in any of the veritable banquet of ‘delights’ on offer. 10 Euro a beer…. New Orleans has seen some things in recent years and not much positive but this is something which has galvanised a community and then spread around the world.
What began as a way for locals to record their hopes and aspirations soon became a way of bringing the neighbourhood together and soon got national awareness, so far similar walls have popped up in Brooklyn, Amsterdam, Portsmouth and Lisbon to name just a few.
There is a lot of art on the walls around London, some of it means fuck all but something like this could have been a great thing post London riots to help with communities understanding of one another. Post those events there was a whole lot of misunderstanding as to why the riots happened and who was to blame…. Maybe this is a bit idealistic of me but….

I’ve spotted a few mini piece of street art around East London this year but did not know until a little while ago who was responsible, it is a certain Mexican chap called Pablo Delgado.

Delgado is a Whitechapel resident and his pictures kind of depict scenes from the oldest profession in the world, and have a sort of innocent sleaze about them, the best kind in my mind. They are actually a commentary on the gentrification of East London and how everyone in the city is geared towards selling themselves and making cash money in the year of the London Olympics.

I am not tech-head… It has taken me a month to get used to using a Mac again at work and still prefer my Apple computers at home. My iPhone is my saviour but I suspect I only know 50% of what it does, I still use my iPod 3 and when it comes to watches I stick to simple Casio digi watches (of which I have 15) after my run in with those pesky Tokyo Flash watches and not being able to a) set the time myself and b) able to tell it after a few beverages.
