The world’s biggest egg hunt – Great Faberge campaign

Clean eggs

In London for the last month or so there have been 200 painted Faberge eggs dotted around, all huge and painted by a wide variety of people from Zandra Rhodes to my fave by Benjamin Shine who made a London Postbox homage.

I was going to go on a mission to find them all to show you them, but then I realised that I can wait until April to see the whole lot in one place, Covent Garden. For anyone visiting London from the 3rd April you have a chance to see the entire collection until the 9th.

Check out the full range, some are amazing and some are poop, but that was bound to happen. If anyone wants to buy me the Benjamin Shine one then I am open to certain favours…. maybe

I still think it might have been an interesting idea to bring in some more unknown street artists or even a couple of the bigger hitters such as Ben Eine or even me with my finger paints…

Converse – I am not angry, I am disappointed

One brand I have always wanted to work for, the one that I would choose above any other is a simple but classic one, Converse. I love the shoe design and the history of it, the fact anyone can wear them and look great and despite the fact they are pretty uncomfortable and I ruin them within weeks, they have pretty much been a fixture in my extensive shoe wardrobe for 20 years.

But…

WTF is this idea to create glow in the dark pumps? Sounds shite? Is shite!

Looks like a shite Halloween to me

Keep it simple white or blue for me

National Portrait Gallery – Feb 2012

Lucian Freud at the National Portrait was very good indeed, clearly an interesting chap. Something that I had never appreciated before but that becomes very apparent when you see the body of work first hand is the piercing eyes.

Boy smoking

Both Girl with Beret and Boy Smoking display very beautiful  and clear eyes, my favourite in the entire display is the Boy Smoking, quite stunning and modern looking even though it was created 60 years ago.

Another thing you will notice is the number of self portraits Freud created, what I noticed on everyone of his self portraits was the darkness of his eyes everytime, in stark contrast to the majority of the paitings of his subjects.

Freud - self portrait

The exhibition stretches from his early work through his changes of styles to a far more harsh representation of those who sat for him.

In addition there is a brilliant portraits from 1960 – 1990 featuring this brilliant piece from a certain Andy Warhol of Mick Jagger

Another Stik….

As mentioned I do not like giving away the exact locals of the things I find… good for people to discover themselves. This Stik piece is near Broadway Market and is rather cute I think you will agree.

Stik Stik

Our Stik friends look like they might have had a bit of a lovers tiff…. I am sure they make sweet Stik love to forget about it later though

It is pretty amazing how you can see so many different emotions on the face when there is only two dot eyes to betray the feeling.

Utterly Amazing – Epic Installations – Heike Weber

I love this, not an awful lot more to say about these huge installations that stretch around entire rooms from floor to ceiling. I have just had an idea for my bathroom…..

Ultimate doorstep

I can only imagine how long this would take in the size of the rooms she is working in but the finished result is something that is more than worth the time invested.

Blue job

Hunger Strike

Rankin y'al

Rankin – Now he may be a bit of a so and so at times but you cannot deny this guy is the boss when it comes to portrait photography. I have a few of his books and visually the shots are amazing as there is a real story to each one and he captures a moment like no one else I have seen. He can makes things unbelievably sexy or extremely dark or painfully morose or any other number of emotions.

His latest venture is Hunger Magazine, which as you would expect is painfully cool in terms of look, feel and content and in an age where everything is digital it is nice to be able to buy something to hold. i-D has helped launch, shape and chart the creativity of numerous people in its 20 years and Hunger may well have the same sort of influence.

iPhone 5 Concept…. erm yes please

I am not tech-head… It has taken me a month to get used to using a Mac again at work and still prefer my Apple computers at home. My iPhone is my saviour but I suspect I only know 50% of what it does, I still use my iPod 3 and when it comes to watches I stick to simple Casio digi watches (of which I have 15) after my run in with those pesky Tokyo Flash watches and not being able to a) set the time myself and b) able to tell it after a few beverages.

But…

I reckon this is something I need in my life… iPhone 5 concept

Although I’d probably break it in a week
