Doom

Love a bit of Wick, loads of paint, stickers, stencils and even toad stalls. It also has some cool little galleries, art studios and painfully east london cafes. Plus of course a lot of Sweet Toof

In the shadows of the Olympic village there are ever changing walls, apparently untouched by redevelopment for now. For those non-Brit readers amongst you, we are currently experiencing a little bit of a rape and pillaging of our memories and childhood in something to do with a creepy old TV presenter. Hence this piece

Counter Cafe has a mini gallery and art work shops, and does a killer breakfast as well. Plus they have a fat pissed Spiderman

3D Graffiti – It’s next level shit

It is usually 2D, might look 3D but usually it is paint on walls. That is how graffiti has always been, but it is the most flexible of art forms and as such the idea of making it into a 3D sculpture piece is one that is probably natural and it certainly a brilliant one.

A certain Evan Roth took the idea of creating a sculpture through the form of live graffiti artists, using the 1983 documentary Style to then map tags and then create a physical object form. The sculptures are finished in chrome dipped ABS thermoplastic

London Calling in Berlin – Tech, Indie, Pop and Maggie Thatcher’s tits….

Going to a night called London Calling when you are abroad may seem a little brit abroad for your pallet. Fuck the local culture i’ll take a pint and some pork scratching, listen to Oasis, speak only English when ordering, get a kebab on the way home etc etc etc.

Mehringdam on the London Underground

Mehringdam on the London Underground

Firstly none of the above really happen for me abroad… cept the pint, but the London Calling night worked for me, full of indie kids, mixed crowd, a DJ from Panorama Bar, free shots on arrival, couple of drag queens, good company and also quite weirdly….. a projection on the wall of Maggie Thatcher on the wall with a pair of tits.

Maggie's Tits

Maggie’s Tits

Music swung from Madge to MIA to what sounded like Peppa Pig but with some rather dirty drum beat accompanying it. Funny, fun, loud and dutty.

Well SF certainly enjoyed London Calling at Schwuz in Merhingdam

ich liebe Berlin… even in the snow

SF takes in am Berlin trip about once every 6-8 weeks….. the beer, art, sausage, clubs, people and sex are off the scale. A move could be imminent

Watch this space

It is an addiction, simply put, there is no good reason for so many, yeah they are pretty, sure some of them even work, some of them work but are not set correctly, some are literally a bracelet masquerading as a watch. But each and everyone looks pretty damn good in my humble opinion.

Sweet Toof in NYC

So you spend most of your living days in the Eastend of London, you spot Sweet Toof absolutely everywhere, he pretty much has this party of town sewn up. Think I a m k  i  d  d  i  n  g ?

Dalston – The late night beer stop

We have all been there, you finish at the pub at about whatever a clock, someone makes the call and it is ‘back to mine’ territory. The next stop is the booze store, more than likely selling you drinks past the legal trading hour.

If you are anything like my lot then there will be a mixture of vodka, cider, vino, some random spirit for downing and then beer and more than likely Red Stripe. In a pub you would rarely choose it but  in a gig or for an after party it seems right.

This great film shot in Dalston shows the scene of which I am speaking. With of course a lil twist, the shop comes alive and starts playing a tune that is always a fixture of any good self respecting East London after party. To say this rings a bell is to do it an injustice. Simple. Cheap. Clever. Funny. Familiar. Red Stripe.

Apparently you should tweet #RSCornerShop

5Pointz in NYC – loads of paint

i spray….

5Pointz in Long Island, NYC. This is a tricky one. It is visually pretty inspiring and has become a graffiti mecca of sorts, known worldwide and attracting artists young, old, famous, infamous, good, bad and ugly. It was created as a place where artists could come and paint to their hearts content without the worry of prosecution thanks to a guy called Pat Dillilo.

Now….

Big noze

That might be the thing that be the one thing that actually is a draw back. I always liked the idea of discovering the art and scribbles and not being spoon-fed it. I liked the idea that graf artists would have to work in the cover of dark, ready to make like Usain at any minute for fear of the fluff. The idea of have a safe sanitised area to create their ‘illegal’ pieces doesn’t ring true….

In the corner

Now who sounds like a tosser. Fuck it…. is it great check it out!
