The uncomfortable truth is Wearing thin

I like things that are a a little uncomfortable to watch, that make you re-evaluate what you are seeing, hearing and taking away from the exhibition.

Desperate

The Gillian Wearing exhibition is very much a naked truth thing, it can sometimes be a little uncomfortable to watch, there are times when I sniggered like a pre-pubescent boy and other times when the story warmed.

Smile and the world….

The exhibition at the Whitechapel has imagery, story telling and acting, the one thing that every piece does is play with identity and our pre-conceptions. Be it through adults miming the words of a child, the artist herself photographed in the guise of others such as Andy Warhol or the rather disturbing confessions of people hidden behind elaborate masks and wigs.

Ever so slightly creepy…

One of the best pictures I have ever seen. Fact

Phil Collins is a hero – Fact

Friends of StandardFact, the guys at id-iom clearly understand the huge cultural and musical importance of the great man. His drumming was second to none and he featured on numerous other artist’s albums because he was so good. Plus he dumped a wife by fax…. the man was always ahead of the curve.

Art + Phil Collins = Groovy

The idea behind this piece is to obviously bring the genius of Phil Collins to a wider audience, but additionally the guys were using a bit of a subtle mind trickery, by using the lyric of ‘When I’m feeling blue, all I have to do, is take a look at you, then I’m not so blue’ from the classic ‘A Groovy Kind of Love’ on a blue background they are planting the blue message in peoples minds, hopefully forever.

A vintage year

This little piece is in Brixton so I am imagining it will have the same effect on the number of sales from that area of PC  purchases in a similar way that a certain chocolate bar did to ‘In the Air Tonight’

More from our id-iom friends very soon….

Basically I love Kate Moss

Hot

Usually when people ask me what is my ideal women, I reply one with no tits and a big cock, but if I was offered a date / shag / candle lit dinner for two with la Moss then the absence of a rather large appendage would not worry me one bit. This may be due to the fact that I read this weekend that she has her own large silver bullett…

Natural

I digress, so basically she is my idea of a great women for numerous reasons

1. Model and beautiful

2. Brilliant style away from the catwalk

3. Shags rock stars

4. Has shagged Johnny Depp

5. Likes a party

6. Not afraid of an orgy

7. Wicked sense of humour

8. Knows her strength is the look… a wise man once said ‘why open your mouth and speak then confirm you are a fool’ or words to that effect

9. Girl knows her music

10. Came out with the quote…’Nothing tastes as good as skinny looks’ Whether this was said in jest or not, I care not. It is a great soundbite and one I have quoted before…

One drawback may be her mothering skills but we have no evidence of this and the kid will grow up cool and independent right?

Cover star

Anyways… pretty lazy post but following the visually striking Dazed & Confused exhibition I finally got around to seeing on Sunday at Somerset House, it reminded me of how stunning she is and how she was quite a regular in that rather defining publication.
